Step 2: Creating the test

Step 6: Administering the test to the public school group

Step 3: Finding a public school

Step 4: Finding a private school

Step 5: Finding home school students

Step 6: Administering the test to the public school group

Step 7: Sending and receiving surveys from the private school students and home school students

Step 8: Grading the tests

Step 9: Analyzing the results

Step 10:  Taking pictures

Step 11: Thanking everyone who participated

Step 12: Meeting with my mentor

Successes:  Mrs. Methvin was kind enough to create a power point that guided her students through every step necessary in making our e-portfolio. The directions were easy to read.

Obstacles: It was a challenge to fit my unique project into an already-defined structure of the e-portfolio. Since most of my product was done online or over email, it was difficult to provide pictures or even break it down as far as twelve steps. My product was more like a continuum of work rather than a chronology.

Successes: I eventually was able to use both  knowledge I had gained from my education and resources online to create a good test for the students.

Obstacles: It was very difficult to create questions from scratch. I was nervous that my test would not be challenging enough to get accurate information.

Successes:
I was able to test Juniors from my school. My principle was very helpful.

Obstacles:  I could not match schedules up with the first public school I contacted and that took up a lot of my time.

Successes: I found a school who was willing to collaborate with me over email.

Obstacles: The private school had only eight Juniors who could take the test which brought my test group down for every school.

Successes: The home school families that I contacted all replied to my request for participation quickly. It was very pleasant working with them.

Obstacles: I had to find eight individual home school students instead of finding a group and getting it all done at one time like with the other schools.

Successes: Everyone in the class was very cooperative and seemed interested in my product. Mrs. Fields-Carey was very kind to let me use her class time.

Obstacles: It was nerve racking to talk in front of the group of students I did not know.

Successes: Most of the participants sent back the surveys in a timely manner.

Obstacles: I would have rather met with the students and administered the tests in person.

Successes: It was pretty straightforward.

Obstacles: I had to print off all of the copies from the home school students and private school students. Then a flood ruined them so I had to reprint all of them and transfer the public school student's answers to new tests.

Successes: The results backed up my research!

Obstacles: The private school sent its results in a different format than the other tests I had graded and I had to reform my whole grading system.

Successes: I was able to get all of my pictures done.

Obstacles: Most of the work was done over email so it was hard to find  a picture for every step.

Successes: Everyone was very helpful. I appreciated all of the help.

Obstacles: I wish I could have done it in person, but I had to settle for email.

Successes: Dr. McLeod was very helpful to me in creating the test and in planning my product. I would have been lost without her. She already knew a lot about the Senior Project so she knew exactly what she was doing.

Obstacles: I really didn't have a lot of time to meet up with her in person so most of our communication was over email.
